Avoidance of Accountability

When you ask yourself about the pillars of a successful business – what comes to mind? High ROI? Great location? Pristine services?

… How long would it take you to list accountable team members?

If your answer is “..A while, Sam!” You’re forgiven!
Within the context of the workforce, accountability is essentially being responsible for specific tasks/functions and their outcome. When you really think about it, accountability across all levels is a crucial bolt in the jolt of any successful business.

As previously noted, my team members are encouraged to fail. By virtue, team members need to be accountable for their decisions, actions, and execution. In my time as a business owner, there have been instances where team members have not been able to hold themselves accountable and it has had detrimental effects on day-to-day operations and process’, deliverables and client retention.

So, how do you cultivate, or even reignite, a culture of accountability in your workplace?

  1. Develop a sense of shared purpose
Emphasizing a shared goal and the benefits of delivering certain tasks. If team members work together collectively in the same direction, it helps to breed accountability

  2. Don’t micromanage
Micro-management benefits nobody! Create specific goals and objectives and ensure there is nothing that is unclear or vague.. That way, team members determine direction and execution.

  3. Empower your team members
Trust their abilities. Allow them to take control of the reigns, be solution oriented and creative.
  4. Give Feedback
Give praise when it’s due and be sure to note what team members are doing correctly when offering them constructive criticism.

The bottom line is accountability curates continuous learning and improvement. It is important to note though, you cannot force individuals to be accountable – you can only create the environment,  encourage them and support them on their journey.

Get rid of the rope – Batman & Entrepreneurship

If you are a Batman fan then you will definitely remember this conversation from the Pit in “Dark knight rises” movie.

“Blind Prisoner: You do not fear death. You think this makes you strong. It makes you weak.

Bruce Wayne: Why?

Blind Prisoner: How can you move faster than possible, fight longer than possible without the most powerful impulse of the spirit: the fear of death.

Bruce Wayne: I do fear death. I fear dying in here, while my city burns, and there’s no one there to save it.

Blind Prisoner: Then make the climb.

Bruce Wayne: How?

Blind Prisoner: As the child did. Without the rope. Then fear will find you again.”

How did Bruce Wayne succeeded in making the climb and taking the jump without the rope?

The Pit is a prison where the prisoners were free to climb in order to attempt their escape. Nearly everyone who tried the climb failed due to the gap between two ledges being too far to jump. Prisoners, used a rope while jumping so that if they fail the jump, they don’t die. The legend of the only person to ever escape (young Talia al Ghul) inspired Bruce Wayne to believe that escape was possible.

How is that linked to entrepreneurship?

From all the books that I have read about entrepreneurship and biographies of successful entrepreneurs, I have understood one thing: “If you are not 100% committed and all in, chances are, you will fail”. In the Batman movie, the rope symbolizes a safety net on the fall down. It is your choice to commit to making the climb and taking the leap without the rope. Things were clear for Bruce! He had no choice but to jump and move forward. He was 100% committed to saving his city.

What is your rope?
Mistakes, bad memories, what would others think of you, the fear of losing something, your ego, your pride etc… It is actually something holding you back.

It is this safety net, this comfort zone which is preventing from making the jump. It’s this fear of losing which is making you weak. Your life will change when you realize that you have to change. Let go of the rope so that you can move faster and fight longer. Be 100% Committed and move forward to accomplish what you believe in.  Failure is a big part of any success story.

A wise entrepreneur once said the following:

“Stay Hungry… Stay foolish.”

“Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.”

“Getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.”

– Steve Jobs

My Top 6 Social Media Tips

I often get asked for my insider tips and tricks relating to social media – they vary from marketing queries, creating content, visual preferences, employee management, and many more! In this brief article, I’ve listed 6 crucial tips to keep in mind when developing your social media platforms:

  1. Create Raw Content (Real Time Marketing)
With the implementation of “Going Live” and the Story feature across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube – polished content is out the door! Audiences react to real-time content in all it’s rawness. Think: behind the scenes pictures/videos, and live stories of a typical day in the office.

  2. Consistency is key!
Pick two prime platforms and be consistent with how many times you post and the style of the visuals! It seems simple but it cultivates credibility, builds brand awareness and most importantly, brand recognition. You can even use apps like Adobe Spark to do this!

  3. Empower your team members!
Your team must have accessible resources and the freedom to make decisions pertaining to their roles. This helps with creative content (and solutions) while ensuring you exceed client expectations.

  4. Be humble
It’s easy to get caught up in your sense of self, your achievements, and what you can personally offer. Don’t focus self-promotion, rather, build sustainable symbiotic relationships based on your services.

  5. Post Engaging Memes to Build Your Community
This is something we know all about at Lebanese Memes Solutions! We built our community from scratch, and now have over 500k family members. To create posts: listen to the market, to similar target audiences, and include relatable content such as humor!

  6. Make offers people cannot refuse! Create enticing solutions! We’ve done it with many accounts and the numbers speak for themselves! If you’re a restaurant owner, cultivate lunch offer combos! If you manage a gym, offer competitive packages and up-sell to cover costs.

Well, according to this recent study, emotions propel massive shares. According to them content goes viral as it evokes arousal and dominance. Now we’ve got that cleared, let’s do this!

One of the most recent incidents that has boomed globally is the #trashtag challenge – an eco-focused initiative that encourages locals to post before and after pictures after they’ve collected trash from the most densely populated parts of their city! On the flip side, you’ve probably also seen the ramifications of negative virality in tearing down a person or brand’s reputation, as was the case with the United Airlines and #flight3411 and the #VolkswagonScandal

In this article, I’ve rounded up 4 of the most viral campaigns that have caught my eye in both in the MENA region and internationally to help you get your creative juices flowing!

Teamwork: Crucial or Irrelevant?

As a business owner, I interact and manage tens of team members on a diurnal basis. My team is now made up of a bunch of eclectic individuals – trust me, it took a lot of trial and error to find them (and conscious leadership to retain them). Experiencing high turnover was excruciatingly frustrating but was it worth it? Yes. I truly believe that a successful business is built on the backbone of a competent team that works well together.

One of the most crucial pillars of Lebanese Memes Solutions is teamwork. Teamwork is crucial for your business as it essentially drives sales, produces superior customer service, and therefore, converts into customer retainment. Keep in mind, teamwork is difficult to cultivate if it the individuals are not willing to do so, and if you do try to cultivate it, it can be only implemented and executed with effective leadership. After all, every team can have a boss, but what yields exceptional results is a leader that helps their team attain the unattainable.

Here are the 4 key traits I search for in potential team members:

  1. Discipline
The litmus test I utilize to assess discipline is so simple it’s almost ridiculous by professional standards: Punctuality. Everyone needs to be in the office by 8am sharp, myself included. Sounds simple, but in our society, it’s severely overlooked.
  2. Ability to Collaborate
Your team members need to WANT to be able to share tasks, brainstorm together, and tackle problems together. When this is done correctly, you can ensure you’ll have the best services to offer your clients. If done incorrectly, you’ll end up with a dysfunctional team, unhappy clients, and you’ll ultimately drive away skilled employees.
  3. Positive Attitude
It’s printed loud and proud across our office walls: NO Negativity allowed! I truly believe in the power of energy as with my experience, when employees have a positive attitude, they provide exceptional work which not only sets a precedence for others to follow, but they are more inclined to be meticulous and solve challenges.
  4. Abundance Mindset
At Lebanese Memes Solutions, we revere team members that are bold enough to fail! It means they dare to dream to find new solutions. We celebrate failures and it is crucial your employees feel secure enough to fail, and embrace them as learning experiences.

5 Tips for Facebook Marketing

Facebook is a phenomenal tool to utilize for any business! It not only aids with brand awareness, establishes identity, and allows you to engage with audiences to ultimately enhance sales!
As with all types of technological platforms, it may be difficult to figure out how to enhance your stagnant Facebook page or even manage the new Facebook page you’ve just created for your business.

I’ve put together 5 (eclectic) tried and tested Marketing tips that I use in my own digital media agency so you can ensure you’re effectively promoting your products and services to your desired audience(and put money in the bank!)

  1. Invite the Right Audience
I know how tempting it is to invite EVERYONE on your friend’s list to like your Facebook page, because the more likes the more exposure.. Right? No. This will work against you because a)not everyone is your target audience/potential customer and b) Facebook algorithms will scan their interests and show your page to similar people. Target the right people.

  2. Be patient: Grow Your Organic Reach
When you’re stuck it’s easy to be tempted to buy your way out. Considering Facebook’s algorithm hinders business’ audience reach, you need to ensure you have a creative marketing strategy and engaging social media posts. In the long run, it pays(pun intended) to grow your reach organically as you’ll have REAL interaction with humans which will trickle down to other humans. You cannot sell your products to bots.

  3. Focus on your Cover Photo
Why? Simply because, it’s your “virtual” first impression – it introduces the brand at a glance, it’s a virtual explanation of the brand. Ensure it is the right size(for both desktop and mobile adaptations), and learn the correct pixels and size(resolution: 851×315)

  4. Use a “Lookalike Audience”
If you do decide to use paid ads, get your ads to the right people! Use this tool to grow your organic reach through this Facebook audience. It essentially collects information to show your ads and posts to people who relate to your current customer base.
  5. Create Viral Value:
What viral post has previously captured your attention and why? Try adapt previous viral content or make your own! There are many elements to consider such as utilizing emotion, humor, trends, etc.

Being Selfish can be good for the world

Do you ever feel like you’re trying to please everybody around you? Your friends, your family, your coworkers, your boss, everybody and you think that this is what makes you happy? Or you’re trying to be happy by pleasing everybody else?
If you’re trying to please everyone but you don’t please yourself, you please no one. Because if you’re not happy, you won’t be able to sustain making others happy.

So here’s what I want you to think about, whether you have a job, whether you’re an entrepreneur, whoever you are, if you’re just trying to please others, and you think that whatever will make them happy, will make you happy, even if you’re miserable inside doing that, think about being selfish for a minute.

I want you to think about you following your dreams. You’ve got to do what’s right for you, not for your friends, not for your family, not for your parents, not for anybody but for you because otherwise you will give up; And believe me, many times in my life, I’ve given up when I was following someone else’s dream, when I was doing something because I wanted to help, whether it’s been my parents in the past, my friends in the past, whoever it’s been, when I just tried to help them because I thought that was what would make me happy, if I saw their dream come true.
The reality is, if you’re not happy; if you’re miserable inside; if you’re not really doing what lights you up; if you’re not really following your dreams, your aspirations, you’ll give up.
The problem with putting others first is the following; You’ve taught them you come second!
In fact, there is a reward for knowing yourself which is everything you’ve ever wanted. It’s health, wealth, love, happiness, fulfillment and respect of your peers. In following your dreams, you might have to be a little selfish at times. Don’t think this being selfish is a negative thing with what I’ve just said.
Think of it as being something that when you’re lit up inside, when you’re pumped up and excited, amazing things will happen because you’ll be able to sustain that. You’ll be able to do it long term because eventually, the other way, you’ll bottle it all up and explode. Be true to yourself. That’s how I want you to look at the ‘Being Selfish.’ Being true to yourself, not being selfish as a negative thing but being true to you and following your dreams and your passions.

Here are some important points to know about selfish people:

– They have the drive to succeed.
– They tend to take better care of themselves instead of giving too much energy away serving the needs of everyone else.
– They are more confident and less likely to give up on goals.
– They go after what they want unapologetically.
– They’re not afraid to ask for the raise or promotion.
– They’re able to focus within and be much more authentic and much happier.

If you’re not hurting anyone, know that when someone tells you that you are selfish, they are actually telling you that you are a goal-oriented leader who knows how to take care of yourself.

People will have a harder time manipulating or taking advantage of you if you’re selfish, especially if you have trouble being self-focused, you might have trouble saying no.
If you have a well-developed sense of who you are, what you enjoy and the ability to communicate this to others, you’ll be a happier person.
Putting yourself first is not a negative quality; it’s your job to take care of yourself and get what you need.

Well here’s the thing about life, we will always face lots of challenges. This is why we make decisions, and with every decision you’re making, life will lead you to a different path. Knowing that there is greatness in each one of us, listen to me for a second:
“You have amazing potential, but if you don’t make the decision to put it into practice and take action, because you procrastinate and you’re focused on helping others instead of yourself first. You will just prevent the world from seeing your greatness.”
